June. A family searches for «where to leave my dog on holiday» and «dog boarding near me». They open three results: in two they find a phone number, opening hours and the phrase «limited places»; in the third they see which dates are still free in August, the price per night according to the dog's size, the vaccination requirements and a form to book in two minutes. That kennel has been full since May. The other two spend July and August answering calls that could have resolved themselves.

The same script repeats at Christmas, at Easter and on every long weekend: few places, many owners looking at the same time and very little time to answer the phone between walks, meals and arrivals. A dog boarding kennel lives on trust —leaving your dog means leaving a member of the family— and on logistics that, when properly set up, organise themselves. The website is what decides who gets the place and who hears the ringtone.

## The season fills up months in advance

No kennel gambles its year on August: it gambles it in spring, when families book their holidays and look for somewhere to leave their dog. At the same time other seasons are being booked: Christmas, Easter, long weekends and weekend getaways, plus dog daycare, which works all year round with customers who come back every week.

The difference between a good season and a chaotic one isn't the price: it's how the places are managed. Whoever lets people book in advance knows in June what August looks like, warns about the requirements in time and confirms with a margin if something has to be cancelled. Whoever only picks up the phone keeps writing in a notebook, ends up with two dogs in the same place or says «no» to customers when there was still room.

A well-built website captures several profiles almost on its own:

- **Families booking holidays**: they compare dates, price per night and whether places are left for their exact days.
- **Owners looking for daycare**: dogs that can't stay alone while their owners work; they book by the week or by the month.
- **Last-minute travellers**: long weekends, house moves, work trips. They search for «dog boarding near me» and call the first one that feels safe.
- **Dogs with special needs**: medication, diet, senior or shy dogs. Their owners rule out from the start anyone who doesn't explain how they handle them.
- **Other professionals in the sector**: trainers, dog groomers or vets who refer customers when they trust you.

## What an owner looks for before leaving their dog

Before calling, they want to clear up a few doubts:

- **Whether there's a place for their exact dates**. It's the first question and the one that generates the most calls.
- **How much it costs**, per night, per size and with the season included (August isn't January).
- **What requirements you ask for**: up-to-date vaccination record, rabies vaccine, kennel cough, worming. Better to read it on the website than to discover it two days before the trip.
- **What the facilities are like**, with real photos and videos: rest areas, yards, where each dog sleeps.
- **How walks are organised** and how many times a day the dog goes out.
- **Whether you accept medication**, special diets or dogs that don't get on with others.
- **Whether there's daycare** as well as overnight stays, and whether you can visit beforehand.
- **Whether you send photos or daily reports** during the stay.
- **How drop-off and pick-up work**, with clear hours and what happens if the flight is delayed.
- **The cancellation policy**, which in high season matters as much as the price.

## The sections that fill a dog boarding kennel

A dog boarding website doesn't need a catalogue of breeds. It needs to convey trust and take phone calls out of the equation. These are the sections that bring bookings:

- **Home page** with the current season and two buttons: «check availability» and «book a place».
- **Availability by dates**: a calendar or form where the owner sees at a glance whether there's room for their days.
- **Booking form** with the dog's details, the dates and the vaccination record attached.
- **Requirements and vaccinations**: clear and visible. It's what avoids the most surprises at the door.
- **Rates** per night and per size, with discounts for long stays.
- **Facilities and team**: real photos and videos, who looks after the dogs and how shifts are organised.
- **Daycare and extra services**: pick-up, grooming or training.
- **Reviews** from customers who come back every summer.
- **Frequently asked questions**: medication, diet, senior dogs, cancellations, out-of-hours drop-offs.
- **Legal notice** and basic data protection.

What you don't need: prices «ask by phone», stock photos of dogs that aren't yours, a website that only works on a computer and an online shop where nobody is going to buy kibble.

## Before and after: from the places notebook to a season that organises itself

Before, the notebook with bookings written in pencil, three calls at once while you bathe a dog, unanswered WhatsApp messages in the middle of the season, owners arriving without the vaccination record and places double-booked or left empty because of a badly written note.

After, the owner goes to the website, sees whether there's room for their dates, books and receives the confirmation with the requirements; you see the full schedule without opening the notebook; vaccination reminders go out on their own before every arrival; and at Christmas or Easter the season is organised weeks in advance. The dog is still the star, but the repetitive part no longer depends on you holding the phone.

## Mistakes we see when a dog boarding kennel commissions a website

- **Just a phone number and opening hours**: it doesn't say whether there's a place, which is the only thing the owner wants to know.
- **Prices «on request»**: the owner carries on looking in the next tab.
- **Not publishing the vaccination and record requirements**.
- **Blurry photos, stock photos or photos of other dogs**.
- **A website designed for desktop**, when almost all bookings start on a mobile, many of them from work.
- **Not collecting emails**: it's the channel to announce next season's places.
- **Neglecting Google reviews**, which is the first thing anyone searching «dog boarding near me» sees.
- **Not explaining drop-off and pick-up**: that's where the last-day calls pile up.

## What Google looks at in a dog boarding kennel

Google wants to answer well to «dog boarding near me», «dog daycare in [city]» or «where to leave my dog on holiday», and for that it draws on your Google Business Profile listing, your reviews and your website. The listing helps —hours, photos, directions—, but it doesn't say whether there's a place in August, or how much a night costs, or which vaccinations you ask for. If you want to go deeper, there's an article on the blog about [websites for dog groomers](/blog/en/web-para-peluquerias-caninas) and another about [websites for pet shops](/blog/en/web-para-tiendas-de-mascotas).

## From the call to the booking

A dog boarding kennel doesn't need an enormous website: it needs whoever is looking for somewhere to leave their dog to find you, check that there's a place for their dates, see the conditions clearly and book without depending on you picking up the phone between one walk and the next. That's the website that fills the seasons, that keeps the schedule in order and that turns a doubting family into a customer who comes back every summer with the same dog.

The good news: you don't need to spend a lot or wait months. You can have your website with the availability calendar, the booking form and the vaccination conditions in a few days. If you run a boarding kennel, a daycare or both, [ask for a free design proposal](/solicita-web/en): you design your website live with AI and I build it once you approve the design. No lock-in, no jargon, and the price fixed before we start.

Are you going to organise the next season with the notebook and the ringtone, or with a website that books for you?
